Some people clearly have no shame. Or in this case, perhaps what the perpetrator lacked was control over her libido.
A 46-year-old woman who lives in Delaware has received a sentence of probation following pleading guilty to charges of having sex with her daughter’s just barely teen boyfriend.
The mother, Elaine B. Goodman, could have been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for her crime, but Judge Robert B. Young commented that he had come to the decision that this occurrence was "an aberration." The judge went on to point out that Goodman has shown a great deal of compassion in taking care of her elderly parents for years, and has also been a big supporter of other needy families in the community.
"This came out of the blue," Judge Young explained his decision during the sentencing. He went on to note: "The crime is egregious and affected the victim and his family, which was taken into account. But incarceration is not the answer."
Keep in mind that Goodman is also required to go through an extensive sexual disorder counseling program and also must register with the local authorities as a sex offender.
Goodman's attorney obviously did his job very well, arguing in court that "there is goodness in this woman".
The lawyer went on to says that Goodman very clearly knew and accepted that what she did was very wrong, and she had been humbled by and learned from the experience.
Deputy Attorney General Denise Weeks-Tappan, however, did not feel the same way. She argued it was clear that Goodman knew what she was doing when she went forward with meeting the 13-year-old boy very late on March 15, 2015.
Weeks-Tappan also said that what Goodman did showed that she was only thinking about herself. Moreover, her selfish actions had a very negative impact on the victim and his family.
