Mother In Hot Water After Throwing Her Son Off Bridge (Video)

Montesano, Washington natives like Kaylub Fawley know that the Wynoochee River is a great place for a swim.

Fawley and friends have been coming to the swimming hole by the Devonshire railroad bridge for years to swim and make the scary 27-foot jump from the railroad bridge into the water below.

“We’ve been jumping for so long, we know how to do it without getting hurt,” the high school senior told The Washington Post. “But we also know the consequences. You have to be careful.”

“I looked up and was like, ‘Whoa, there’s a kid up there’ — I immediately started recording,” Fawley said. “This guy just threw the kid right off the bridge, and he smacked down right on his neck.”

“As soon as that kid hit the water, he went straight down and straight back up,” Fawley continued, noting the life jacket rapidly pulled the boy back to the surface. “He was just screaming the whole time.”

Several people at the scene reported the incident to police.

The next day, Fawley posted the video on Facebook, saying: “this is what happens when some parents just don’t care.”

In the clip, the boy’s mother can be heard cheering as her youngster is thrown into the river. Fawley says the river is usually about eight to 12 feet deep, depending on recent rain.

The police arrived within 15 minutes and viewed the video Fawley took.

“The police officer watched it several times, and he was pretty upset,” Fawley noted, noting that the boy was examined in an ambulance. “I kept asking if the little boy was all right, and the cop said he was fine, but he was shaken up pretty bad.”

The boy is 4-years-old.

Steve Shumate, a spokesman for the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office, explained to the media that the local prosecutor’s office will decide whether to charge the parents with child endangerment (a class C felony).
