Mother Horrified By What Her Teacher Did To Give Her Daughter Blistered Hands

A lot of people argue that kids need more discipline these days. Parents are quick to complain when schools try to teach kids responsibility, thus enabling their children to behave badly without consequence. Sometimes teachers struggle to get valuable messages across. There are also times when teachers go a bit too far.

Alma Gallegos is furious at her daughter's gym teacher for disciplining girls at a Texas school. The mother noticed her daughter had odd red marks on her palms. Upon closer inspection, she found the 11-year-old girl had developed burns and blisters on her hands.

The girl explained that the gym teacher punished her and some other students because they were late for class. The teacher made the girls get down on their hands and knees and bear-crawl across the hot football field turf. It was 90 degrees that day, and the high temperatures made the turf a searing torture mat. All the girls who were punished suffered from blisters, welts and burns.

The coach dismissed the girls' cries and refused to let them get up until the teacher was satisfied. “I tried to tell her that I burned my hands but she just told me to go back in line and do them again,” said the young girl.

Gallegos says she agrees with teachers enforcing discipline, but this was pure torture. “Run an extra lap, run an extra two laps. Why would you put them on turf? You get on the turf and you let me know how it feels,” said the angry mom.

The principal found out about the punishment and called the families to offer an apology. Gallegos is wondering why the coach in question has not reached out to apologize.

"Some people may say, ‘Oh this generation, they’re crybabies.’ It’s not cry baby. It’s just that this isn’t the military. This is school," said Gallegos.
