Mother Hears Three Words That Couldn't Be More Ignorant

It seems the world is turning out more and more individuals who are just looking for someone to scold or criticize instead of minding their own business.

Annie Muscato was at the receiving end of one of those types of people while she was shopping for formula for her newborn daughter, Ellie Jo. Muscato wanted to breastfeed, but soon learned that Ellie Jo's body was having difficulty digesting it. After many sleepless nights, they soon discovered Ellie Jo could digest a hypoallergenic, dairy protein-free formula. Yet, even though the family was doing what was best for their baby, no one else knew that and Annie had to deal with an ignorant stranger.

As she was shopping for the formula, a stranger walked up behind her and whispered "Breast is best." Annie could not believe it and vented her frustration on Facebook--her post soon when viral.

She wrote, "You didn’t need to tell me, ‘breast is best’ as I was buying a can of baby formula, because I already know. But, let me tell you what else I know. I know that my baby began screaming after she ate. Writhing in pain. Inconsolable." She continued to explain that they took her daughter to several consultants and went to the pediatrician twice a week.

She went on to write, "Finally, we tried the hypoallergenic dairy protein free formula you saw me buying today. And the screaming lessened. And my baby started smiling. She started interacting. She started sleeping." Ellie Jo was at first heartbroken thinking her body had failed her baby girl. She now realizes that not everything goes according to plan.

She addressed the stranger by saying, "But, you are wrong. What I know that you don’t is that breast ISN’T always best. I know happy, healthy baby is best. I know FED is best." She added, "Sometimes what we plan for and what we want just doesn’t work out, but we are all here trying to do what’s best for our babies."
