Mother Gets Prison Justice After Killing Her Toddler

Kathryn Smith stomped her 21-month-old daughter to death in one of the most gut-wrenching crimes ever committed. She probably thought she got off easy when she was sentenced to prison instead of death. Yet, her inmates did think that the punishment fit the crime and gave her a taste of old-fashioned justice.

Ayeeshia Jane Smith, who weighed only 20 pounds when she died. She wasn't even two when she cried, “Stop mummy, stop daddy!” Her mom didn't stop and instead stomped on her daughter's chest so hard that she caused a fatal heart injury and three broken ribs. The helpless and innocent child bit through her own tongue, as a result of the attack from the one person who should have protected her.

The child’s injuries were so severe that experts said her little body looked as though it had been in a high-speed car crash.

Smith was convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 24 years in prison. She was sent to the notorious Foston Hall women’s prison in Derbyshire, England, which houses some of the fiercest and meanest women in the country. The inmates plotted an attack they named, “Revenge for Ayeeshia.” During her sentencing in April, the judge said “You were completely self-centred. You wanted to take care of Ayeeshia yourself, but not at the expense of running your love life the way you wanted.”

Justice Geraldine Andrews continued, “You are a devious, manipulative and selfish young woman who would stop at nothing to get your own way. To that end you were prepared to tell lie after lie, telling professionals what you thought they wanted to hear. If matters were not working out the way you wanted them to, you would display an explosive temper.”

While on a prison stairwell, Smith was jumped by as many as 10 hardcore fellow inmates. According to reports, she screamed in agony as she was “maimed in a brutal four-minute assault that saw her punched, kicked, and knifed.” In addition, her face was slashed by a homemade blade that left a two centimeter stab wound on her cheek.

A source said, “There had been a lot of talk about attacking Smith, but most people wouldn’t go through with it as they don’t want time added on to their sentences. But these two really went for it and left her in a bad way.” Smith still got to walk away with her life, unlike her daughter.
