Mother Follows Instinct, Discovers What Has Been Melting Baby's Skin Off (Photos)

The mother of a little boy in Atlanta, Ga., is blaming doctors for making the child’s skin condition worse, the Mirror reported.

Stephanie Smith recalled that her son Isaiah’s blistering became so severe, his skin appeared to be “melting off.” She said she almost started hoping the boy would die, so he would not have to suffer any longer. The problem, she claims, is that doctors prescribed a steroidal cream after diagnosing the child with eczema.

After receiving treatments of the drug for months, he began to show signs of an extreme reaction. “Isaiah’s skin was falling off, like it was melting,” his mother said. “It was oozing and weeping into his eyes. It was like he had no skin. He was in agony. At one point it was so bad I thought, ‘If this is going to be his life, please take him.’”

Smith stopped applying the medication and turned to homeopathic creams. She used a mixture of lemongrass and zinc, which slowly began to show results. “As time went on, we saw patches of clear skin,” the mother said. “Isaiah would walk to the kitchen island, where I kept the balm, point at the jar and point to his face. It clearly soothed him. I took about 50 photos a day to see the progress, because it could change moment to moment.” After using the balm for 10 months, Isaiah was finally cured of his condition.

The boy, who is now 2 and a half years of age, began experiencing the painful skin flares when he was just 3 months old. A rash formed on his cheek, where he had sustained a laceration. The redness returned every time the boy came into contact with perfume or clothes washed with a fabric softener.
