Mother And Son Wake Up In Motel In 'Ridiculous' Conditions (Photos)

The Dolan family was down on their luck and were staying at a motel, which they paid for upfront for a week, but when they discovered that the hotel had bed bugs and complained, they were thrown out.

“I was, like, this is ridiculous,” Mandy Donlan told KMBC 9.

She was staying at the Super Budget Inn on U.S. Highway 40 in Independence, Mo. with her son and dog at the time and says she took a video of the bedbugs under the mattress. The motel’s manager, however, said that the room had just been treated for bed bugs.

“It is embarrassing this particular person made a mountain out of a molehill,” said manager Olivia Schnirch. “The health department came by. They checked the rooms. They said they were good to go.”

That doesn’t exactly line up according to Health Department records, which show that the room was inspected two weeks before Donlan’s visit. Bed bugs were found at the time of inspection.

“Three of us went in there and there was nothing to be found in that room. Those bugs magically appeared,” Schnirch insists.

KMBC 9 tracked down another hotel guest who said her son also got bed bug welts the last time they stayed there.

“I’m not staying here ever again. It’s disgusting. It’s dirty,” the guest said.

“I’m homeless for five days until we move into our house because of what they did to us,” Donlan said.

Donlan said she was denied a refund for the night’s she didn’t stay at the motel and was told the motel had a no refund policy. Once KMBC 9 asked questions, the motel gave her the money back.
