Mother Admits She Made A 'Horrible Mistake'

Cherish Peterson, 27, from Gilbert, Arizona is on the defense as she admitted that she forgot her baby in a shopping cart at a grocery store. The mother of four said she had three of her four young children with her, when she completely forgot that her two-month-old son Huxton was in the shopping cart that she left in front of the mall when she was rushing around Fry's grocery store on Monday in order to buy her nephew candy for his birthday.

In an interview with CBS 5, she said "I'm a good mom who made a horrible mistake." A Phoenix police officer found the baby in the cart and took him to a nearby Supercuts salon as they searched for his parents. Social media erupted where some called her a "bad mom who must have been drunk." Then, the hashtag #IStandWithCherish popped up. Peterson said that when she got home, she quickly realized what happened. One witness claimed it took Peterson two hours to return, but Peterson said she was back at the store within 40 minutes. Peterson's husband, Nathan, was also quick to come to her defense.
