Mother’s Facebook Post About A Granny That Held Up The Line Counting Coins Is Going Viral

A mom was in a hurry trying to get through her daily chores, which included a stop at Target. When the old lady in front of her began counting out change to pay for her order, the impatient mother began getting frustrated. Watching the cashier, however, gave her a whole new perspective.

Sarah Bigler is a young mom on the go who doesn't like to be held up. When she saw an elderly lady counting out coins to pay for her order, she quietly stewed. “I was at first frustrated and irritated thinking of my long day,” said Bigler.

Then things changed when she noticed the cashier. “I watched the young employee with this woman. I watched him help her count her change, ever so tenderly taking it from her shaking hands. I listened to him repeatedly saying ‘yes, ma’am,’ to her…. Never once did this employee huff, gruff or roll his eyes. He was nothing but patient and kind.”

The patient, well-mannered cashier is Ishmael Gilbert. “She kept telling me she’s sorry and I kept telling her ‘You’re fine,’” said Gilbert. “I treat everyone with the same respect and I get it back in return.”

Bigler realized that she was setting a poor example for her children, while Gilbert was setting a great example for all of them. The young man treated the elderly woman the way he would want someone to treat his own grandmother - with patience, kindness and respect.

Bigler got Gilbert a job at the hospital where she works. He's now a patient care technician, but that's only the beginning of his exciting new career. The hospital is paying for the former cashier's education so he can earn a nursing degree.
