Mom Wanted To Deliver At Home Naturally, But Premature Labor Sent Her To Hospital - Doctors Discover A Big Surprise

One couple was determined to have their baby as naturally as possible. They decided to use a midwife instead of a doctor, and they opted out of procedures, such as ultrasounds.

They were all prepared for a home birth, but then something went wrong. The mom went into labor early, and she was rushed to the hospital.

After she gave birth to her daughter, doctors discovered something shocking.

Matthew and Nicole Ziesemer had planned the natural childbirth, but when Nicole went into labor at just 36 weeks pregnant, her midwife urged her to go to a hospital. The baby coming four weeks early meant a home birth was just not safe, so the couple faced the blizzard going on outside to get to the medical facility.

The mom-to-be suffered with the riveting labor pains while her husband, friends and loved ones waited. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything anyone could do for her except to help her get through it.

Finally, after 40 hours of intense labor, Nicole gave birth to a baby girl.

It was an exhausting labor, and doctors quickly went to stitch up a small tear that the mother sustained during delivery. When the doctor reached inside to examine Nicole, though, she got a shock.

She felt another head.

The doctor then told the parents the big news that they weren’t expecting: Nicole had been pregnant with twins, and the couple didn't even know it. She gave birth this time to a little boy.

Matthew felt that everything turned out the way it was supposed to in the end. "So even though I'm more of a natural person things happen for reasons and there are definitely times for medical intervention and this was one of those times," he said.

"God definitely has a greater plan for us and showed us that we don't control anything in our lives. It is truly up to him and we have to trust that whatever curveball he throws at us is what we need in our lives," he wrote on Facebook, announcing the birth of the babies.

Blakeley, their daughter, was born healthy and strong. Their little boy, who they named Cade, had some breathing issues, but his dad reports that everything looks good

"Cade has a breathing issue that he is closely being monitored for but it should all be ok. Since he was pushed out so quickly and never had contractions really his lungs and fluid in his lungs didn't come out as good as his sisters."

"We would appreciate prayer for everyone but especially Cade and his healing," he wrote.

In a more recent update, Cade is breathing well and set to be released from the hospital. The mom and dad were left with a big job, though.

They have to double up now on all the baby supplies. They need another crib, car seat, set of baby clothes-- everything!

Cade did a great job of hiding so that he could give his parents the surprise of their lives. Even though the couple didn't get the natural home birth that they had planned, they couldn't be happier.

Mother and babies are doing fine, and that’s all that counts in the end.
