Mom Takes Daughter To Costco, Terrified After Creepy Man Starts Staring

Taking your children out for lunch can be a stressful and time consuming experience. However, no parent should ever feel unsafe when they leave the security of their home. Fora mother of a 4-year old girl named Julie Stroup, a casual trip to Costco for shopping and lunch turned into a truly terrifying afternoon. Ms. Stroup wrote about the incident on Facebook, saying: “After a much too long morning at home, I decided to treat her [Ms. Stroup’s 4-year-old daughter] with one of her favorite favorite lunch sports, pizza at Costco.”

After they ate lunch, Ms. Stroup decided to wander around Costco and look at some dresses with her daughter. However, the mother had an unpleasant feeling that she was being watched, eventually noticing a man in his forties who seemed to be overly interested in the pair, writing: “At first I didn't think anything of it but it wasn't long before something about him didn't feel right.” The man nonchalantly tailed Ms. Stroup and her daughter as they meandered through the children’s clothing sections at the popular store. Ms. Stroup became more and more certain that something wasn’t right after another suspicious looking man joined the first stranger.

Increasingly worried for her daughter’s safety, Ms. Stroup hurried to the register, writing on Facebook: “Whether this was all in my head or not, the thought of someone attempting to take my child filled me with fear…I asked the exit greeter…if someone would walk out with me…he told me he had also seen those two men in the store and understood my discomfort. He motioned for someone to walk with me to my car.”

Ms. Stroup’s story gained massive traction online after she wrote about the terrifying ordeal on Facebook, receiving over 2000 likes and 10,000 shares. Ms. Stroup took the opportunity to warn other parents about the dangers of not being aware of their surroundings in public. While some Facebook users have applauded Ms. Stroup’s quick thinking and carefulness, others have pointed out that it is highly unlikely that kidnappers are operating out of Costco.

Accordingly, many commentators believe that the exhausted mother might have been jumping at shadows. It remains unclear if Costco staff are investigating the incident or reviewing the relevant security camera footage.
