Mom Offended When Couple Moves Away From Their Table - Can’t Believe Why

For the average parent, few things will make your blood boil like a feeling that someone is looking down on your children. These perceived slights are incredibly personal for loving parents, and they are often quick to remove themselves from those situations and leap to their child’s defense as necessary. Ashley Wadleigh definitely falls into that category, but she recently realized that what you perceive is not always reality. It happened during a recent trip to a local restaurant, and the situation left the red-faced mom scrambling to make it right.

As Little Things shares, Wadleigh has shared her story of what happened when she went out to eat with her three little ones. It seems that the couple seated next to them asked to be moved, and Wadleigh was besides herself.

“Now this wouldn’t be the first time someone moved when they saw 3 kids sit down by them, but I couldn’t help but be angry. Like, what do you think my kids are going to do? Throw food? Stab you with a fork?” she wrote.

She kept her cool, but she vented towards the server. That’s when she found out that the couple had recently lost a child, and the sight of a young family sparked all kinds of emotions for them. Wadleigh was mortified, but she quickly found a way to make things right.

“In that moment I felt so ashamed. My heart literally skipped a beat. I felt horrible for her, I felt horrible for judging her. So, I did the only thing I could think: I paid their bill and asked the server not to tell them who it was. Well, they must have figured it out because as we were leaving, she stopped me,” she continued.

The couple thanked her profusely, but Wadleigh was the real beneficiary as she walked away with a new perspective on things.

“It reminded me to never snap judge someone… you never know what others are going through. It also reminded me to live every moment with my children… to savor the good and bad… because they are here and they are mine. And also to of course always be kind,” Wadleigh wrote.
