Mom Makes Son Surrender To Police, He Responds By Killing Himself In Front Of Her

A deputy asked the man and woman parked in a car outside the Harris County, Tex., Sheriff’s Office if he could help them.

The mother, who had clearly been crying, replied: My son killed a man. I’m here to turn him in.

The deputy asked the boy whether this was true.

“Yes,” the slender young man replied.

Then he jumped out of the car and put a handgun to his head. The deputy unholstered his own gun, and told the boy to drop the gun.

The young man instead pulled the trigger as the deputy and his mother watched in shock. He later died at a local hospital.

A friend of the dead boy, Darian Mitchell, said the two were just chilling at his house when the boy got a call from his girlfriend.

“He was like, ‘What are y’all doing?’ and she said, ‘I’m cheating on you right now.’ He got so mad so he kept yelling. He told her and her boyfriend to come meet us, to talk,” Mitchell explained to local media in an interview. “I don’t know why he was tripping over this one girl, but it was not worth it.”

The girlfriend and the other man involved, tentatively identified as 25-year-old Army veteran James Ayala, came over to Mitchell’s house later that night. They argued, and the teenager pulled out a gun, and shot Ayala, according to Mitchell

When the young man’s mother heard about the incident, she told him he had to turn himself into police. The pair drove to the sheriff’s substation about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
