Mom Gets Death Threats When Video Shows Her Putting Son's Head in Toilet

A Florida woman sent her friend a video showing what she thought was a funny incident between her and her children. The video was posted to Facebook and people were outraged over the way the woman was 'playing' with her son.

Now, the mom of two is getting death threats and needs police protection.

Kaitlyn Wolf of Leesburg infuriated Facebook users when a video of her putting her three-year-old son's head in the toilet surfaced. She was bombarded with angry messages and even death threats. Things got so bad that she's had to be under police protection, but the mom insists she is a good mom and that it was just a funny moment she shared with her two sons.

"It was a joke between the three of us," Wolf told WFTV. "My sons and I horseplay rough. We stuck his head in the toilet and flushed it, and my older son was recording it."

Wolf says the incident happened when her three-year-old shouted out a naughty word. Wolf brought him into the bathroom to wash out his mouth with soap for using profanity, but when she got there she got a better idea.

She had seen a film in which a child's head was shoved into the toilet. She got the bright idea to imitate that, so she picked up her toddler and turned him upside-down.

As her older son filmed the scene, Wolf holds the crying boy with his arms pinned behind him, then lowers his head into the porcelain bowl. She holds him, hovering there, as he screams.

Wolf then sent the video to a friend via Facebook, joking about how she uses creative discipline. That friend sent the video to the girlfriend of Wolf's ex, and the girlfriend posted it in public on Facebook. It didn't take long for the video to go viral, and anger to erupt.

In the video, Wolf appears to be holding her son quite forcefully, his arms twisted firmly behind him. The child also appears to be in genuine distress as his head is lowered, his hair brushing the toilet water. Viewers did not see the ‘joke’. Calls began pouring into the Leesburg Police Department from people wanting to report child abuse. Officers have launched an investigation into Wolf.

"The incident is currently under investigation by the Department of Children and Families, and Detectives are also working with the State Attorney's Office to determine appropriate criminal prosecution," wrote the police department on their Facebook page.

Wolf has been getting threatened with violence from multiple mystery people online. People have been harassing her, saying that she deserves to be shot or buried alive. The mom has had to ask police for help.

"His head was never under the water, his face never got wet," said the mom. "It’s scary to think I might lose my children over this - over a joke that we played."

"It was just a game. I didn't inflict harm on him... he was laughing during the video," she added.

Wolf told WKMG that after she turned her son upright and put him down, he begged her to 'do it again'. Unfortunately, she says, the video was shut before catching that part.
