Mom Is Furious That Her One Year Old Child Appears to Have Been Beaten at His Day Care

A mom from Indiana dropped off her children at day care on Monday morning as usual. Hours later, she was called by the day care to come and pick up her one-year-old son. When she arrived, she said she could hear her child crying.

When she saw him, he was stunned. The young child's face was swollen and covered with bruises. He looked like he'd been assaulted.

When Tiffany Griffin saw her son, Jesse Harris IV, she was furious. Her son, seated in a high chair, was barely recognizable. His top and bottom lip were swollen, he had scratches, cuts and bruises all over his face, and blood everywhere.

Another little girl had blood on her, but did not appear injured.

Griffin whipped out her phone and began filming her child. Shocked and outraged, she screamed for police to get there soon and yelled about her baby's face.

She told one of the workers off camera that it looked like an adult had beaten him.

The day care had an entirely different story for Ms. Griffin. Haben Ghebremichael, the owner of the day care, told the Associated Press that Jesse was attacked by a 2-year-old girl.

Ghebremichael says that the day care workers witnessed the fight between the children and separated them, but by then the damage was done. They say that the 2-year-old was sometimes violent, but even her caregivers were shocked by the extent of the damage she did to Jesse in a short amount of time.

Griffin contacted the mother of the 2-year-old girl, who cried and said she doesn't believe her child hurt Jesse. According to the toddler's mother, her daughter would sometimes scratch, but has never been that aggressive.

Griffin believes the injuries were inflicted by the daycare worker. She brought Jesse to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

"It's no way a baby, a 2-year-old and that baby was small and she didn't look like she was the violent type and her mom said she wasn't the violent type and her mom said scratches her baby might do but when seen that picture she started crying and said her baby wouldn't do anything like that," Griffin told Fox News.

"Now I gotta be a stay at home mom and not do the thing I want to do to advance in life to give them the best in order to make sure they're taken care of and not neglected," the furious mother added.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident. Thus far, a police spokesperson says no arrests were made. The Family and Social Services Administration of Indiana did issue an emergency shut-down letter on Tuesday, however, and the facility has, at least temporarily, closed its doors.

“We are deeply saddened about what took place yesterday afternoon to Jesse. We at Kiddiegarden pride ourselves on not only providing quality service to families, but also providing a clean, safe and healthy environment for all of our children since we opened our doors three years ago," said the day care in a statement to WXIN-TV.

"Kiddiegarden has never had any accusations of abuse or maltreatment from any of our children or parents. This was truly a sad, shocking and unfortunate event."
