Mom Calls 911, Says Something Unusual - Police Rush To Her Aid

A police dispatcher in Westminster, California recently went above and beyond the call of duty to support a fellow mom.

The 911 dispatcher on duty that evening in Westminster was named Erika Marlow. Erika had worked as a dispatcher for several years and thought she had just about heard everything you could imagine in terms of emergency calls, but this call surprised her and led her to seek an urgent solution.

The person who called 911 identified herself as a single mom living in an apartment with a five-month-old baby. Marlow wasn’t quite sure what the call was about at first, then the mom on the other end said
“I’m almost out of baby formula,” and it all clicked.

You see, the woman had just told her she had lost her debit card, her car was nearly out of gas, and she had no family or anyone she could call in Westminster. Marlow instantly understood the mom’s urgent problem and empathized with her.

When she understood the issue at hand, Marlow sprang into action. She reached out to her personal friend Westminster police officer Nick Jezulin, and gave him her own money to buy formula for the baby and asked him to deliver the formula to the desperate mom.

Luckily, it was a quiet night and Officer Jezulin was able to take a few minutes to stop by a local Walgreens to pick up a can of formula.

The Westminster Police Department Facebook page notes: “Officer Jezulin went to a nearby 24 hour Walgreens to get the formula and later delivered it to her. Calls about kids touch the heart, and these two great employees were happy this baby went to bed on a full stomach.”

Keep in mind that Marlow could have called this in as a “welfare check” on the mom’s five-month-old infant, and the outcome could have been quite different in that case.
