Mom From Alabama Desperately Seeking Good Samaritan That Made Her Day

Melissa Simms was having a day. That was on top of the fact that things aren’t going too well in her world at the moment, so her day was just the icing on the cake.

Simms was at her wits' end, but she got an incredible sign that maybe things aren’t all that bad after all. As WBRC shares, she is now on the lookout for the anonymous Good Samaritan that helped her see things more clearly.

Over the past couple of years, Simms has had a number of surgeries. Needless to say, trips to the doctor's office are a pretty regular occurrence for her. She was there in the midst of her awful day, and she suddenly realized that she didn’t have enough for her copayment.

"Me and my husband woke up and split our last ten dollars for gas, for him to go to work and for me to make it to my doctor's appointment," she said. "All day I was stressed about how am I going to make supper for my kids."

Her son Trey was home sick from school, and he had accompanied her to the office. As he sat in the waiting woman, he was approached by another woman that sensed something was wrong. That woman simply handed her son an envelope, and she told him to give it to his mother.

"If I would have known what it was, I would have told her thank you," Trey said.

Inside of the envelope was a touching note - and a crisp $100 bill.

"I've had days like you're having today. Hang in there." the note read.

Also included was a scripture that offered up a rather touching sentiment.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go," the scripture read.

Simms has gone public with her amazing story, and she’s doing that for a simple reason. She’s determined to track down the kind woman so that she can simply say thanks and let her know what a difference she made for her with her incredibly gracious and kind act.

"It is a complete feeling of peace, just like everything is going to be OK. I don't know what she looks like, I don't know her name, but I hope I get to meet her to say thank you," Simms said.

"It's the kindest thing that's ever been done. Truly from the bottom of my heart I thank this woman. I would love to repay it and to pay it forward one day just like she did."

Someday - hopefully sooner rather than later - Simms will be in a position to pay it forward. We’re going to go out on a limb and assume she will do just that. As for her personal Good Samaritan, we’re going to assume that no thanks is necessary. She got exactly what she wanted by inspiring another to pay it forward.
