Model Hits The Streets Wearing Nothing But This - People Don't Know How To React

Daring social experiments are gaining momentum across the internet. In March 2017, the Dailymail pushed the boundaries of the trend by having a model walk along the streets of Venice Beach, Los Angeles without any clothes on, with only a thin layer of paint conserving her modesty. The experiment was borne from a desire to see how many people pay attention to others in public and what the reaction would be if people noticed the model’s nakedness. The model in question was 24-year-old Crystal Eastman who spent over 2 hours with professional body painter, Octavio Solis to achieve the realistic look. Mr. Solis used an airbrush to paint on a very fine, smudge-resistant coating of paint on Ms. Eastman’s body. The talented artist managed to craft a realistic two-piece bikini replete with straps and a string design on the bottoms. The Dailymail recently conducted a similar social experiment involving Ms. Eastman, using workout gear rather than swimwear.

When the body-painting was complete, Ms. Eastman took to the busy streets of Venice Beach, sauntering around for around an hour. During this time, it is believed that 25 people noticed the model’s naked body beneath the paint. While many people simply stared in amazement or chuckled at the sight, several startled beachgoers responded positively with one man asking “Is that painted on?...Beautiful” while another man appreciated the quality body art, saying: “Great artwork, right there”. No reports have emerged detailing any negative responses during the experiment, in fact, several people even approached Ms. Eastman to ask her for a photograph. Ms. Eastman has reported that the experiment was a liberating and enlightening experience.

Online reactions to the social experiment have been mixed. Some commenters on the Dailymail have praised the model’s bravery and commitment to the social experiment. Alternatively, many viewers have mocked the incident and questioned its purpose with one person commenting: “Haven't we seen this same ‘trick’ ‘stunt’ whatever it's called a million times?!!? Why is it news every time someone walks around with body paint?”
