Military Dad Returns Home To Meet Baby For The First Time

A heartwarming video, showing a returning soldier meeting his daughter for the first time, is going viral for a second time. The soldier, who remains unnamed at this point in time, had just returned from a 5-month tour in Afghanistan and he was anxious to meet and bond with his baby daughter when he came home.

Luckily, when the military dad arrived at an airport in Sacramento, California, he found his family waiting to welcome him home. When the soldier sees his wife, he rushes to pull her close, kissing her with tears in his eyes. As the loving husband-and-wife couple embrace, they both begin admiring their baby daughter. With an enormous smile on his face, the soldier gently strokes the infant’s head and murmurs something indecipherable to his wife and daughter.

The video then shows the soldier holding his baby daughter, while exclaiming: “she’s so tiny.” As the soldier holds his daughter for the very first time, he begins choking up and is visibly overcome by the emotional welcoming.

In the video’s background audio, viewers will be able to hear bystanders cheering and congratulating the joyful couple. While the onlookers clap, the three-person family pose for several photographs to memorialize the happy moment.

Online commenters have flocked to celebrate the heartening video and its messages of love, family and courage. On the Daily Mail, users were especially pleased by the moving family tribute. “Thank you! We needed that!” wrote ‘null’. “That was beautiful!” said ‘DeplorableLatina’ in support. Another user, ‘Jenny082’, was similarly uplifted by the story – especially during such tumultuous times in America – and wrote: “Great story with all the tragic news lately. Brought a smile to my face.”

Every week, similarly incidents repeat themselves in airports and homes across America. One recent case was caught on camera when Captain William Lotts returned home from deployment in Afghanistan and met his 4-month-old daughter, Finley. When Captain Lotts found out that he would be deployed to Ghazni, Afghanistan, for 9 months, he quickly realized that he wouldn’t be home when his wife, Brittany, went into labor.

Before Mr. Lotts departed, local media outlets caught up with his wife, who said “when he comes home it’ll be one of the best moments of my life…He'll be home and he'll be safe.” After Captain Lotts came back home to New York, he was finally able to meet his infant daughter, telling the Daily Mail: “She felt pretty light, new and fragile,” he said in awe. “It felt pretty amazing…It's been great. There's nothing like being a dad. There's a wholeness and fulfillment that's unequal. It really transcends anything I can put into words.”

A video of the moment Lotts met his daughter has already been viewed thousands of times, with Brittany exclaiming: “I love seeing him with her. It's the sweetest thing ever.” According to the Daily Mail, the military dad is already flourishing in his role as a father and role model.

At this stage, it remains unclear if Lotts will be deployed again in the near future.
