In The Middle Of A Violent Carjacking, Woman's Is Saved By Bulletproof Purse

In today’s increasingly dangerous world, many people are resorting to hidden weapons or concealed body armor to stay safe on the streets. While your peace of mind is important, these sorts of precautions are often un-practicable and may actually increase the risk of danger. If you’re’ concerned about the high number of shootings in America, then perhaps you need to get your hands on a bulletproof bag. This seemingly ridiculous idea is the subject of intense debate across the internet after a young woman successfully used her handbag to block a bullet.

The subject in question, an unnamed 39-year-old woman, was petrified when she was held at gunpoint by a man, now identified as 52-year-old Victor Walker, when she was loading luggage into her car at 4:00 am on a Wednesday morning in Brooklyn. Little did this woman know that her own purse would save her life when the man shot at her at point-blank range and stole her vehicle.

When faced with a gun, not many individuals would choose to fight back against an assailant, however, this woman’s choice to fight back, almost cost her more than just her car and luggage. After attempting to physically attack the armed man, the assailant fired at the chest of the woman, a shot that could not have possibly missed her chest at such close range. Fortunately, the woman had just enough time to protect her body with her handbag and wallet, miraculously stopping the bullet just short of entering her body, although it managed to pierce through her handbag, purse, and clothes.

Although the man managed to take her car while she was stunned and pistol-whipped, the NYPD managed to track down the armed man, bringing him into custody with a $25,000 bail and multiple charges. The victim was taken to hospital for minor injuries and was released shortly afterward. The NYPD have also taken the opportunity to emphasize that victims of similar crimes should not attempt to fight their aggressors.
