Media Caught Red-Handed In A Lie - Twist Trump's Comment About Veterans

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was asked by a veteran what he thinks should be done about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a very serious issue many veterans face. Trump went on to discuss the alarming suicide statistics for veterans, his respect for veterans and his plans to give the VA a makeover. "We're going to have a very, very robust, very, very robust level of performance having to do with mental health," he explained.

Trump initially opened the discussion with the comment, "When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat, and they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over – and you're strong and you can handle it – but a lot of people can't handle it."

Mainstream media ignored just about everything Trump said he wanted to do for veterans, and seized upon one phrase, which they then spun to imply Trump was calling veterans with PTSD ‘weak’.

"Trump Suggests That Soldiers With PTSD Aren’t ‘Strong,’" read the BuzzFeed headline.

"Donald Trump sparks outrage by suggesting vets with PTSD aren’t ‘strong’ and ‘can’t handle it,’" read the headline of the Daily News.

"Donald Trump’s Comments On Veteran Suicide Are Exactly Why There’s PTSD Stigma," read headlines from the Huffington Post.

Democrats jumped on the opportunity as well. Hillary Clinton tweeted: "A person who implies that veterans suffering from PTS are not "strong" is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief. Period."

Vice President Joe Biden said, "His ignorance is so profound."

The irony of Biden’s criticism is that the VP had just stated he was ignorant to Trump’s actual remarks and was going by headlines.

"I think it’s sickening that anyone would twist Mr. Trump’s comments to me in order to pursue a political agenda," said Chad Robichaux, founder of Mighty Oaks Warrior Programs in California and the man who actually asked the question.

Veteran Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn says the media ‘took Mr. Trump's words out of context in order to deceive voters and veterans.’

Regardless of whether you love Trump or hate him, you have to admit the levels of intellectual dishonesty to which mainstream media and partisan politicians are willing to stoop these days is extremely alarming. What good is living in the ‘information age’ when most of the information out there is deliberately designed to deceive?
