McDonald's Manager Is Busted For Selling Cocaine Alongside Cookies

A NYPD sting operation, known as ‘Operation Off the Menu’, has led to a McDonald’s manager being arrested and charged for selling cocaine in his restaurant. The cocaine was delivered to customers in cookie bags and was placed with orders for burgers and fries.

According to NBC New York, the manager, 26-year-old Frank Guerrero, worked at a McDonald’s in the Bronx and made thousands of dollars from his drug operation. ABC New York has revealed that ‘Operation Off the Menu’ took place over three months and focused on reports of heightened drug activity in and around Soundview, Bronx.

According to prosecutors, Mr. Guerrero kept his supply of cocaine on the premises of the restaurant, hiding bags of coke in the McDonald’s soap dispenser. NBC New York reports that a similar method of hiding and selling drugs was recently discovered at a Papa John’s restaurant.

When Mr. Guerrero’s clientele entered his restaurant, the manager first secured payment for the cocaine. If this step proceeded smoothly, Mr. Guerrero retrieved one of the coke bags and stuffed it into a cookie bag. The cookie bag was subsequently hidden inside a normal burger and fries order.

At this stage, investigators do not think that Mr. Guerrero’s drug customers needed to provide any information or code words during the transaction. A similar incident in New Hampshire – involving a Burger King manager who sold weed – made headlines when it was revealed that prospective drug customers demonstrated their interest by asking for “extra crispy fries.”

Although Mr. Guerrero was an employee at McDonald’s for over 8 years, the extent and timeframe of his drug operation has not yet been revealed to the public. Mr. Guerrero was finally busted when he sold cocaine and crack to an undercover cop.

According to Vice, the cocaine that the undercover cop received was worth over $10,900 on the street. The drug order – which included 100 grams of cocaine and an unknown amount of crack – was delivered to the undercover cop’s table with a regular McDonald’s burger meal.

When Mr. Guerrero’s home was raided, police discovered over $5000 in cash, approximately 20 grams of cocaine, and a slew of drug paraphernalia. WABC reports that Mr. Guerrero has been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia relating to use of a controlled substance.

According to WABC, Mr. Guerrero’s girlfriend, Leidy Cabral, has also been arrested and faces minor drug-related charges.

"Guerrero's conduct was so blatant, it would be comical if he weren't committing a serious narcotics crime," said Bridget Brennan, a special narcotics prosecutor, during an interview with Daily News. "Ordering coke took on an entirely different meaning on the night shift at this McDonald's."

The owner of Soundview McDonald’s, Tony Rodriguez, has condemned Mr. Guerrero’s actions and released a statement to the press. "The actions of this employee are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in my organization,” he said. “We are cooperating with NYPD investigation and defer all further questions on this matter to them."
