Man Tracks Down His Stolen Cell Phone and Gets Fatally Shot

An Alabama man, 23, had his cell phone stolen. As a result, he used a computer app to track it down after it was stolen from his car in Fairfield, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham. The tracking app led the man to a church parking lot near Miles College late on Sunday.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis said the man is believed to have “arrived on the scene and hit a button on the app that made the phone ring inside a vehicle. When he went to retrieve the phone inside the vehicle, the suspect shot and killed him.”

Davis said the victim and shooter knew each other. The police have “very good leads” as to the identity of the suspect. Davis said people should “Notify police and let them handle the recovering."
