Man Texts About Upcoming Drug Swap, Ends Up Accidentally Texting This To Prosecutor

Everyone gets a wrong number on occasion, and usually, nothing happens as a result. But sometimes a wrong number can be disastrous, depending on the situation: such as when you’re trying to do something illegal. A Pennsylvania man was trying to trade his marijuana for some heroin. He texted who he thought was a drug dealer looking for a trade. He even sent photos. He had no idea that he was setting his own trap to be caught.

Assistant District Attorney Jill Matthews of Luzerne County got a text from a stranger out of the blue one night. Using dealer lingo, someone was asking him to trade marijuana for heroin. Matthews says that shortly after the request, the person texted a photo of a big plastic bag containing a green substance sitting on a scale.

“She got a text that was an obvious text for a drug deal. She contacted Kingston police and set up the deal,” said First Assistant District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce. “The person thought it was an actual client, but it turns out it’s not only an assistant district attorney but one in the drug unit.”

Matthews played along with the mysterious texter and a meeting was set up with the unsuspecting criminal. John Raimondo, age 29, arrived for the meeting at an Edwardsville shopping center. He was ready to make the trade and shocked to find out he wasn’t meeting with a low-life dealer holding a bag of heroin. He’d made a date with police.

Raimondo was promptly arrested. He never showed up for the hearing, and now he’s being sought by police. According to The Times Leader, the suspect already had warrants out for his arrest. He had two traffic warrants and a suspended driver's license.

Reporters tried calling Raimondo at a number listed for him in the public directory, but apparently, the alleged criminal learned from his mistakes and is not falling for that again. He isn't answering his phone.
