Man Solves 20-Year Mystery After Finding This With His Underwater Sonar

Sometimes missing person cases are not solved for decades, but it is always a great relief to the families of the missing when a long-standing missing person case is finally solved.

The family will undoubtedly be relieved that the remains of a man missing for more than 20 years named Fremont O’Berg were discovered in a submerged vehicle in a Kansas lake.

Local media is reporting that work crews pulled a vehicle out of Hillsdale Lake on Thursday evening, and upon searching, found the remains of missing person Fremont O’Berg inside the 1981 Chevrolet Citation.

Of note, O’Berg was first reported missing all the way back in 1992.

Police reports highlight that O’Berg was 57 at
the time he went missing. Authorities undertook an in-depth search of a number of areas around Miami County, including Hillsdale Lake, after O’Berg was reported missing, but they never found a trace of him.

Of interest, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office noted in a press release that the vehicle in the lake was located by an individual who was fishing with underwater sonar when they accidentally came across the vehicle.

Based on the police report, the vehicle was found around 40 yards from the shore of the lake.
