Man Shot And Killed In Community's Response To Accident Involving Little Boy

Sadly, community-level justice regularly leads to more crimes than it prevents. In one case, a man was recently shot dead in Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, after he struck a four-year-old boy with his car. While details remain scarce, police believe that several onlookers, who witnessed the horrifying event, later targeted the driver, Jamie Urton, fatally shooting the man.

The child in question, a 4-year-old boy, was wondering around Walnut Hills and wondered out onto the road on Kenton Street when 44-year-old Jamie Urton accidentally struck the child. In a fortuitous turn of events, despite the child’s injuries, he is expected to make a full recovery. Unfortunately for Mr. Urton, the incident left onlookers furious and seeking retribution. It is said that Mr. Urton was travelling home with a friend from work when, according to Sergeant Eric Franz, three unknown individuals dragged Mr. Urton and his passenger from the car and assaulted them.

The scuffle between Mr. Urton and the men is believed to have quickly turned violent. After numerous gunshots were heard, police were called to the scene, finding Mr. Urton suffering from several gunshot wounds. Mr. Urton was rushed to hospital but would later die during surgery. Mr. Urton’s companion did not receive any significant injuries.

This tragic series of events is all too common in the neighborhood of Walnut Hill. Local resident, George Gains, has revealed that the sound of gunfire is a “daily soundtrack” throughout the neighborhood. Furthermore, college freshman, Supreme Davis, reiterated this sentiment but hoped that the community could come together to combat violence within the area, saying: “Walnut Hills is a sacred community for everybody. A lot of our upcoming talent and kids that have a bright future come out of this same very neighborhood. “

Police are still searching for the three men responsible for the death of Mr. Urton and hope that, upon discovery, they can provide the missing information in the case. Anyone with information has been encouraged to come forward.
