Man Pays Child Support For Six Years For Non-Existent Child

One man thought he was doing the right thing by sending child support to his ex-lover. He was told by the woman that she had his baby, so he began sending monthly checks. Six years later, he discovered that she did not have a baby.

The unnamed man from Minnesota met Johna Loreen Vandemore, 34, on an online dating service. The two saw each other a few times before calling it quits. Soon after the breakup, Vandemore got in touch with the man and told him that she was pregnant with his baby.

For six years, the man sent $1,000 per month to a post office box. On holidays and for an annual birthday he sent extra cash. Altogether, he's made some 90 payments.

Vandemore was lying the whole time. She'd sent the man fake medical records, a fake birth certificate from a non-existent hospital, and pictures of her cousin's child. She claimed it was his child.

Vandemore also moved on with her life-- she got married. It was her husband that blew her scam-- he discovered the checks. Vandemore had been lying to her husband, too, telling him that her earnings came from a sales job with a nutritional products company.

Now, the fake mom's world has come crashing down around her. She was investigated by the FBI, arrested on mail fraud and faces 20 years in prison.

For a baby that didn’t exist, it sure cost its fake parents a lot.
