Man Ignored While Choking To Death At Busy McDonald's

Johnny Langdon was inside a McDonald's in Cheltenham, England, when he noticed people were stepping over something in order to get to their food.

Langdon found Mike Ore, who suffers from spina bifida, dying on the floor. Ore had choked on his food and was gasping for air for three minutes before anyone came to his aid.

Langdon said, “I was standing in a queue at McDonald’s with my family when I saw this man in a wheelchair clearly in distress. I and two ladies went to his assistance and tried to remove the food from his mouth, but he had turned purple in color and I realized that he was dying.”

The 47-year-old was initially in his wheelchair when the food became lodged in his esophagus. He then fell to the floor, fighting to breath. It was Langdon and two others who rushed to assist him. Ore didn't make it.

An investigation into his July 8 death showed that his choking was caused in part by alcohol abuse causing an impairment in his swallowing reflux. Although there were many people who could have helped him sooner and may have possibly saved him.
