Man Goes To Craigslist Meet-Up With His Daughter - Situation Takes Deadly Turn

Police are asking for the public's help regarding a murder in Raytown, Missouri.

The murder victim is 39-year-old Jake Brantner. The dad and ex-GM worker was shot and killed at about 8:30 PM in a reasonably busy parking lot. Police are certain that numerous people saw what happened but they have just received three calls about the shooting on the TIPS Hotline.

One witness to the incident noted that Brantner's 10-year-old daughter was in his car when he was shot just a few feet away.

"There was a little girl sitting in the passenger seat crying and a man outside the car... outside the car bleeding," the witness explained.

The female witness says she was in the parking lot of a strip mall at 63rd when she heard several gunshots. She says she drove over to where the shots came from and then she saw the man on the ground and the little girl in the car.

"I asked her to unroll the window and she did. I asked if she was ok, she was, she was asking for her dad. I didn`t want to say anything about her dad because from where she was sitting I didn`t think she could see him laying there," the witness noted in an interview with the media.

A friend and neighbor of Brantner remarked that he was a family man and well-known in the local racing community. He worked for GM for more than a decade, then left to launch his own automotive shop specializing in race car fabrication.

"Just shocking and I feel really bad for this little girl and her family," commented Daniel Holdcroft. "I think it will be with her the rest of her life. It's going to be, she is going to be traumatized the rest of her life."

Raytown Police are requesting that anyone who many have heard or seen anything potentially related to the shooting to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

"He was a good guy," Holdcroft noted. "You couldn`t ask for a better neighbor. If you needed anything he was right there to help you."
