Man Goes Into Court With Minor Offense, Then Carried Out A Felony

Everyone makes mistakes, but this blunder is probably the biggest 'oops' of one man's life. The man went to court for a minor issue-- a traffic violation -- and everything went off without a hitch. While he was there, he dropped something. Now, he's being charged with a felony.

Lemar Reed headed to the Lorain Municipal Court in Ohio to fight a traffic ticket. He spent about an hour waiting, but the worst that should have happened was that he would have had to pay a fine before leaving.

An hour later, Reed found himself in handcuffs. When he was standing there before the judge, he dropped something: a bag of cocaine.

No one noticed the bag fall out of Reed's pocket at first. The man left the courthouse and went on his way when a bailiff found the little bag on the floor.

The bailiff alerted authorities, and the court house's security footage was reviewed. That's when the film showed that Reed was the one who dropped it.

As Reed approached the judge, he stood with his hat in his hand. When he picked up his hat and put it against his chest, something fell out of it and landed at his feet. No one noticed it at the time.

When the bag was linked to Reed, a warrant was immediately issued for his arrest.

The judge said it was a 'first' to Fox 8 Cleveland. “He was only here for a traffic ticket, and he made a simple traffic ticket, where there's only a possibility of a fine, and turned it into a felony,” Judge Mark Mihok.

It wasn't a very good day in court for Reed, according to Mihok.
