Man Given Unbelievable Punishment After Kicking Woman In The Face

A nurse in Istanbul, Turkey was on a bus minding her own business when a man attacked her. According to reports, the man was infuriated because the woman's legs were visible. The man blames his actions on manic depression.

Ayşegül Terzi, 23, was riding a bus one Saturday afternoon when a man became enraged at the fact that the young nurse was wearing shorts. The man shouted, "Those wearing shorts must die!"

The unnamed suspect then physically attacked Terzi. He brutally kicked her in the face during the assault. Three other men on the bus stepped in to try and intervene. They finally managed to stop the suspect from beating the young woman.

Police arrived and the man admitted the woman's shorts, which fell about mid-thigh, are what upset him. "The shorts she was wearing were not appropriate. That's why I was angry and behaved so," the suspect told police in his own defense.

The man, who works for a company in the security department, then told police he suffered from manic depression. Police arrested him.

The attack was filmed by security cameras on the bus. Many women in Turkey are concerned about violence against women rising to epidemic proportions in the country. Many people took to social media to argue that the woman was entitled to make her own choices about her wardrobe, and it's none of anyone else's business.

The suspect faced a judge on Sunday and was released.

Domestic violence runs rampant but rarely gets reported; it's viewed largely as a 'family matter'. Some 86% of women in Turkey reported being assaulted by members of their own family. Hundreds of women die every year after violent attacks, mostly women dying at the hands of their own husbands.

The rape culture in Turkey is also out of control. A high rate of young women and children, even tourists, are sexually assaulted in the country. A bill had been proposed that would allow men to get away with the rape if they married their victims, but thankfully it was withdrawn after a public outcry.
