Man Gets Big Punishment For Illegally Handicap Parking Incident

Starbucks has banned a St. Petersburg, Florida resident for life because he told customers to move when he found them parked illegally in handicapped spaces. Rob Rowen received a letter from Starbucks letting him know that his behavior was disruptive to customers and he was not welcome back to the store. The letter read, “I regret to inform you you’ve been expelled from Starbucks.”

Rowan thought the letter would be an apology from the Starbucks chain since the manager at the South Dale Mabry, Tampa location had kicked him out. Now, Rowen is banned from all Starbucks, regardless of their location. The entire incident started because Rowen became tired of people parking in the handicapped spaces when they could have walked the additional distance.

Rowen made a statement related to the incident, “My son-in-law has muscular dystrophy and is in a power wheelchair. I’ve seen so many times, the issue of him trying to find a parking space.” This frustration resulted in Rowen telling visitors to Starbucks to move if he saw they were parked illegally. Rowen went on to say, “I threatened to embarrass him (a customer) by telling everybody he was parked illegally.”

Another incident occurred when Rowen took a picture of a vehicle parked illegally. The customer stated she would call the police due to harassment, but Rowen replied, “I said go right ahead, so she ended up getting a ticket, which felt really good.” Yet, since the manager stated Rowen was being confrontational, he was no longer allowed to enter Starbucks.
