Man Finally Arrested For Battering A Woman, But He Didn't Stop There

A Florida man has been arrested after he flew off the handle Sunday morning and violently attacked his fiancé during the heat of an argument. A witness reported that he beat the woman up first, then killed her 9-week-old kitten and threw her phone in the toilet.

Jacob Powell of Spring Hill, Florida, says he became enraged when he and his fiancé, Alysia Loder, were arguing early Sunday morning. The couple were living together with Loder’s daughter, who witnessed the attack. The daughter’s name has not yet been released and it’s unclear if she is a minor or an adult.

The witness reports that her mother and Powell were arguing around 1 a.m. in the morning. She claims Powell was intoxicated. He pushed Loder to the floor and struck her head against the wall inside the closet. He then proceeded to grab her wrists and ankles, reports the witness.

Powell was so angry with the victim that he picked up Loder’s new kitten, Rajah, and killed it. The victim attempted to call 911, so the man took the phone, smashed it on the floor, then threw it into the toilet. He jumped into a rented vehicle and fled the scene.

Police came to take a report and Powell was spotted driving by the apartment where the couple lived, where the attack had taken place. Police went after the vehicle and stopped Powell for questioning. At first, Powell denied taking part in the battery or killing the kitten at first. he did admit that he had smashed the cell phone. He later admitted to beating the woman and killing the cat. When police later asked Powell why he attacked the kitten, he said, "I was pissed off so I killed her."

Powell was charged with domestic battery, tampering/harassing a witness/victim, and animal cruelty.

The victim suffered from several injuries, including scratches, but nothing life-threatening, according to reports. Hopefully under the circumstances, the wedding plans will be called off.
