Man Continues To Lose Weight While Eating One Domino's Pizza Per Day

If you want to lose weight, one of the most common pieces of advice is to ‘cut out junk food from your diet’. And yes, it’s true that removing high fat, high sodium and heavily processed foods from your diet can massively decrease your daily caloric intake. However, as long as your body maintains a calorie deficit (meaning that your body burns off more calories than you consume through your food), you will lose weight no matter what you are eating.

However, many nutritionists skip over this widely accepted weight-loss principle, choosing instead to promote supplements, diets and healthy eating plans. While these strategies will likely improve your overall healthiness, your body may not be maintaining a calorie deficit and, thus, you will not lose weight.

Now, Brian Northrup, a man who goes by the moniker ‘Lord of Pizza’, has used his knowledge of calorie deficits to prove that someone can still lose weight and maintain a powerful physique while eating junk food every day. In his experiment, Mr. Northrup, who resides in New Jersey, ate a medium Domino’s pizza every day for 367 days. Each day, Mr. Northrup made sure that he documented the type of pizza he ordered and how many calories it contained.

When the experiment finally ended, Brian weighed himself for the first time in a year. The results were quite extraordinary. Despite eating a pizza every day for 367 days, Brian was in excellent physical shape and had actually lost 5 pounds since he last weighed himself. “If you see me, a relatively small guy, who was never a good athlete … I want to be a reminder of what’s possible through hard work,” said Brian. “Too often have I heard trainers, fitness ‘gurus’ and even doctors tell people: ‘You can’t outwork a bad diet.’ I believe all of those people vastly underestimate what is possible through hard work.”

So how did Brian continue to lose weight while eating his favorite junk food every day? According to the pizza fan, the secret to losing weight is counting your daily intake of calories and making sure that you burn more. “Burning off calories is not my reason for working out, to me that’s putting the cart before the horse. Basically, I eat more in order to work out more – as opposed to working out more so that I can eat more,” Brian told LAD Bible. “That may seem like a silly shift in semantics, and maybe it is, but if so it’s a silly shift that has lead me from being unable to run from one class to another for 60 seconds straight, to running double digit miles daily.”

To ensure that his regular pizza meals didn’t get the better of him, Brian created a grueling workout schedule to match his diet. Three to four days per week, the Lord of Pizza trekked to the gym and spent an hour lifting weights. The weekly resistance training sessions were matched by daily cardio sessions. By the latter end of the year, Brian was running 20 to 30 miles every day.

If you are worried about Brian’s cholesterol or sodium levels, you should know that Brian regularly visited a doctor throughout this experiment. The result? Brian’s cholesterol, sodium and blood pressure are all within the healthy range.
