Man Butchers His Face With A Chainsaw, Ties Head Together And Drives Himself To The Hospital

If you thought Chuck Norris was the ultimate tough guy, you haven't heard about this grandfather from Melbourne. After a horrific accident, he gathered himself together (literally) and sought medical attention. Surgeons said he was very lucky to be alive.

Bill Singleton, 68, was working on his property with a chain saw when he lost control of the blade and it cut into his face.

“I was two thirds of the way there and things started to spin, the lights went dark... I dropped to my knees and was on all fours," said Singleton. He forced himself up and refused to pass out. With no one there to help him, he took care of himself. Singleton tied his head back together with bandages then drove himself to an emergency room.

"He split the whole part of his face open," said a surgeon. "It was like something out of a science fiction movie.”

An X-ray shows that the chain saw cut that split Singleton's face open went clear back to his wisdom teeth. The gash started on his lower neck and went all the way up to the middle of his jaw. He couldn't even call for help because he sliced his tongue in half and couldn't talk.

Surgeons claim Singleton came within an inch of severing his carotid artery, which would have caused him to bleed out before reaching the hospital. He also came close to mangling his larynx. Amazingly though, Singleton not only survived, but he's home recovering.

When Singleton recovers, he has no plans of slowing down. He’s not even afraid to use a chainsaw again.

Move over Chuck Norris; Bill Singleton might give you a run for your money.
