Mall Santa's Encounter With Angry Woman Goes Viral: "You're Not Real!"

A Mall Santa working in a shopping center in Toronto has been verbally abused by a deranged shopper who accused him of misleading children as he “wasn’t even real.” The bizarre and saddening exchange was captured on a bystander’s mobile phone and shows a woman in a grey and black dress walking up to the entry of Santa’s Workshop.

Before the woman enters the holiday-themed display, she begins yelling at the confused Mall Santa. “Do you have a sleigh? You fucking dickhead? Do you have a sleigh?” screeched the woman, prompting mothers and fathers to hurry their children away from the Mall Santa in an attempt to save their children’s holiday innocence.

As the abusive and profane rant continued, the woman began attacking Santa as a made up being, screaming: “You’re not magic; you’re not even real! I heard about it when I was a young kid! You’re not real, man.”

After uploading the clip to Viral Hog, the shopper who originally shot the video told The Huffington Post that the Mall Santa acted professionally throughout the encounter, refusing to engage with the abusive woman and warning her that mall security was on its way.

As she left the mall, the unnamed woman was confronted by several mall security officers. A spokesperson for the shopping center in question, Dufferin Mall, later confirmed the video author’s statement, telling The Huff Post that the woman later left the mall without any other incidents.

This isn’t the first time that Santa’s existence has been questioned in recent weeks. A 6-year-old boy from the Washington area recently made a stir after a cynical ‘Dear Santa’ letter he wrote in class went viral on Twitter.

"I’m only doing this for the class," wrote the young boy. "I know your naughty list is empty. And your good list is empty. And your life is empty. You don’t know the troubles I’ve had in my life. Good bye."

After a photo of the letter was uploaded to Twitter, it started getting significant online traction, featuring on Twitter’s ‘Moments’ page. Although the boy remains unnamed, his mother and original uploader of the letter, Sarah McCammon, has told local media outlets that she is proud of her son’s original response.

While many Twitter users reacted to the letter humorously, a small portion of commenters wondered if the young boy was having difficulties at home. However, Ms. McCammon has refuted this idea, telling News.com: "My 6yo Santa sceptic was told to write a letter to Santa at school. So he did...PS - the 'troubles' in his life? His brother. Don't call child services," she emphasized. "Trust me, he's totally having fun."

After the Santa skeptic’s letter went viral, hundreds of other social media users have taken to Twitter to reveal their own stories of children being skeptical. “My son was 3 when he told other children in his nursery class that Santa was invented by Coca Cola,” tweeted Su Butcher. “He also said if he had to believe in a god it would be the Greek gods because they are more interesting. Sorry...”
