Little Girl Found Walking Barefoot On A Highway - Then She Explains Where Her Mother Is

A car crash could have turned into a complete tragedy after a vehicle veered off the road and plummeted 40 feet down a cliff. Thanks to one little survivor, there were no fatalities. Her mom calls her a hero.

Angela Shymanski was driving with her two children strapped into their car seats in the back of the car. The lullaby music she put on to soothe her children unfortunately lulled Shymanski into an overly-relaxed state, and she did the unthinkable: she fell asleep at the wheel.

The car flew off a cliff and landed in a tree by a creek. Lexi, age five, woke up to find her mother unconscious and her 2-month-old brother Peter crying.

Lexi managed to wiggle out of her car seat. Then, barefoot, the little girl hiked up the steep 40-foot slope, back to the road. She waved down traffic and managed to get help to her brother and mother before it was too late.

"I only can remember one or two times where she got out of her five-point harness previously. She somehow got out, adrenaline or whatever, and barefoot hiked up the embankment," said Shymanski, still shocked by the events. "It's crazy because the guy who came to see us in the hospital, he said the medics and the firemen needed ropes to get up and down that embankment, and she did it barefoot."

Shymanski and Peter had serious injuries. The mother's back was broken, and the baby was suffering from brain bleed. Thanks to getting quick medical attention, the two are expected to recover.

"It's amazing and we're just so glad she did that," said the proud mom.
