Little Boy Tells Mom He Can See His Dad - She Knows That's Impossible

Losing a close friend and family member is one of the toughest things that a person can bear. Everyone deals with this enormous loss differently and one young Ohio boy has taken a particularly heart-breaking approach to the loss of his father. The boy in question, a 4-year-old named Brentley Rhoden, told his stunned mother that he could still see and talk to his father, a year after the man was killed. The horrific incident made national news after Brentley’s father and 7 other family members were murdered in their home in Pike County, Ohio. Brentley’s mother, Chelsea Robinson, his half brother, Ruger Lee, and his cousin, Kylie Mae, survived the traumatizing incident, which became known as the Rhoden family massacre.

After the terrifying night, Brentley was adamant that he could still communicate with his father, and asked his mother if she could too. While Chelsea could see no sign of her husband, she knew that her son was processing the tragedy in his own way, saying: “He said, 'I picked up Daddy's hand, and it just fell.”

When the first anniversary of the massacre approached, Brentley informed his mother that his dad was watching them from the sky. At the time, Chelsea was driving but she pulled over, realizing that she needed to give her son some time with his father, telling WLXT that “He was so excited. He was saying 'He's right there. He's right there. He's right there. He's right there on that star.” This wasn’t the first time that Brentley had seen and talked with his deceased parent. Chelsea often gives her son some time to talk to his father at his burial place, saying: “He will lay on his grave, just lay on it. And sometimes he will bring out his cars and play derby.”

Brentley is slowly recovering from the horrifying loss of so many family members and when asked where his dad is, the young boy proudly says: “[W]orking on derby cars in heaven with Jesus.” Unfortunately, the police investigation into the Rhoden family massacre has stalled and no suspects have been found.
