'Leave Judge Kavanaugh's Children Alone', Chelsea Clinton Tells People

Chelsea Clinton reached out to people on Twitter to ask that Judge Brett Kavanaugh's children be kept out of the current controversy. The call came after a political cartoonist depicted the judge's 10-year-old daughter praying for her 'angry, lying, alcoholic father' and asking that he be forgiven for sexual assault.

Clinton, as usual, was quick to smack down those bringing the children of political figures into the mudslinging.

The Kavanaugh probe rages on after President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee was accused of sexually assaulting Dr. Christine Ford at a party when the two were in high school in the 1980s. Kavanaugh denies the allegations, but at the height of the #MeToo movement, denials don't cut any ice.

The firestorm continues to heat up with half the country feeling Kavanaugh should not be confirmed on the basis of the allegation, and the other half feeling an unfounded accusation should not be enough to ruin a person's career.

Last week, Chris Britt, an award-winning political cartoonist, depicted Kavanaugh's 10-year-old daughter in his drawing. The child was kneeling by the bed saying her nighttime prayers. “Dear God, forgive my angry, lying, alcoholic father for sexually assaulting Dr. Ford,” read the punch line.

Britt was jumping on Kavanaugh's comments earlier in the week when he became emotional and said his daughter had wanted to pray for Dr. Ford.

“I intend no ill will to Dr. Ford and her family," said the 53-year-old judge. "The other night, [my wife] Ashley and my daughter Liza said their prayers. And little Liza, all of 10 years old, said to Ashley, ‘We should pray for the woman.’ That’s a lot of wisdom from a 10-year-old. We mean no ill will.”

After the cartoon was published, it stirred even more outraged.

“Please leave Judge Kavanaugh’s daughters alone,” tweeted Clinton. “They do not belong in your cartoons, 'jokes', or skits. If you can’t make your point about Judge Kavanaugh, whatever it may be, without bullying his kids, it’s not worth making.”

The 38-year-old daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton knows how it feels to be a child that gets dragged into the mudslinging. When her father first took office, Chelsea was only 12 years old, but the media bullied her and people made unkind comments about her looks. Conservative Rush Limbaugh allegedly made a joke on his talk show calling her a dog.

Since becoming an adult, with media bulling becoming even more vicious with the advent of the internet, Clinton has been constantly reminding people to keep innocent children out of it. Even though President Donald Trump said some vicious things about Hillary Clinton and the Clinton family when he ran against her in 2016, Chelsea Clinton was among the first to jump in and defend his son Barron Trump.

“It’s high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves,” she tweeted after the Daily Caller made fun of the 11-year-old boy's attire.

She has also come to the defense of women when they are called names out of line, even if she politically differs from the women. When comedy talk show host Samantha Bee bot patted on the back for calling Ivanka Trump a 'feckless c--t', Clinton defended her as well.

“It’s grossly inappropriate and just flat-out wrong to describe or talk about Ivanka Trump or any woman that way,” she tweeted.
