Klan Members and Protesters Brawl in Anaheim City Park

Three stabbings and a dozen arrests resulted from a fight involving the Ku Klux Klan and the group’s opponents in an Anaheim, Calif., city park on Saturday, according to Daily Mail Online.

Police accused Klan member Charles Edward Donner, 51, of San Francisco with stabbing someone with a flagpole. Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt told reporters that officers arrested three other men, as well as a woman, associated with the KKK for alleged assault with a deadly weapon. All four of the suspects were released from jail because a video showed they had been “clearly attacked,” according to Wyatt.

The other seven people taken into custody were among those protesting the KKK’s planned rally at the park. They face charges of “assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury” for allegedly kicking two Klan members lying on the ground.

“Even if the vast majority of our community disagrees with a particular group who visits our city, we cannot stop them from lawfully gathering to express their opinions,” Police Chief Raul Quezada said in a news release. “Violence is not acceptable, and we will arrest anybody who assaults another person or commits any other crime in our city.”

According to witnesses, an anti-Klan demonstration was taking place at the park when members of the white supremacist group arrived. The protesters reportedly started the brawl by throwing sticks.
