Kim Kardashian Writes A Moving Gun Control Piece - But Makes An Awkward Mistake

Kim Kardashian, a reality TV star who is famous for being famous, made a heartfelt plea for gun control this week. After the celebutant survived a harrowing armed robbery at a hotel in Paris last year, she's felt more concerned about safety than ever.

In a statement on Friday, Kardashian called for stricter gun control laws. It's not her fault if you can't afford your own armed security detail.

Friday was National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and Kardashian, the victim of gun violence in France, felt compelled to make a call to the American people for action. She called up some tragedies to prove her point, but ended with a ridiculously ironic comment that made the rest of her statement fall flat.

"IT’S BEEN 18 YEARS SINCE COLUMBINE, 10 YEARS SINCE VIRGINIA TECH, FOUR YEARS SINCE NEWTOWN AND WE'RE COMING UP ON THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORLANDO NIGHTCLUB SHOOTING," wrote Kardashian, giving an all-caps history lesson.

"IN ALMOST 20 YEARS, OUR COUNTRY HAS MADE VERY LITTLE PROGRESS IN ENACTING LAWS THAT WOULD HELP PROTECT INNOCENT AMERICANS FROM PEOPLE WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE ACCESS TO FIREARMS. RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE MORE GUNS OWNED BY CIVILIANS IN THIS COUNTRY THAN IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD," she reported.

"IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, PRESIDENT TRUMP ACTUALLY SIGNED A BILL REVOKING A REGULATION RECOMMENDED BY PRESIDENT OBAMA THAT WOULD HAVE ADDED 75,000 NAMES OF PEOPLE WITH REGISTERED MENTAL ILLNESSES TO A NATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECK DATABASE," she claimed. "THIS IS CRAZY!"

She finished with, "ALL OF MY SECURITY TEAM IS ARMED."

Though many citizens are relieved to know the Kardashian clan are all safe behind state-of-the-art security systems, sturdy walls, and well-paid, highly trained armed guards, you can't help but wonder where that is supposed to leave the rest of the public?

Kardashian went on to say that while she's not okay with private citizens owning guns to protect themselves, she's totally on board with private armed guards. She 'understands the need for armed security', she explains, and isn’t she lucky that she’s one of the few that can employ such services.

When touting gun statistics, it’s always interesting that celebrities, as they type on their computers in their gated homes in heavily patrolled neighborhoods, only look to tragedies in which lives were lost. They fail to recognize the many instances in which a legally armed citizen saved lives with a firearm.

In fact, every single tragedy that Kardashian mentions in her message was a gun-free zone; had even one single legally armed citizen been at any of those places, it could have potentially decreased the loss of lives, if not prevented the tragedy altogether.

If only everyone could afford their own armed guards like Kim Kardashian; not only would it save lives, but the economy would be booming and the unemployment rate would plummet. But most people can’t, and Kardashian wants to make it harder for you to protect yourself.
