Colin Kaepernick, a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, has gotten a lot of backlash lately for protesting the national anthem when he takes the field. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback claims he can't salute the flag or respect the national anthem in 'a country that oppresses black people and people of color.'
Kid Rock, singer, songwriter, and rapper, had something to say about that in his recent Fenway Park concert. Rock sang the song 'Born Free' with a massive American flag draped in the background. In the middle of the song, he shouted, " “F--k Colin Kaepernick.”
The clearly patriotic crowd burst into cheers and applauds at the simple statement, and Rock went right back to singing his song.
Rock is only the most recent critic of Kaepernick. Even South Park, known for being controversial itself, has taken jabs at the NFL player. In a recent episode, characters sang 'Colin Kaepernick's National Anthem.'
"Colin Kaepernick is great. Cops are pigs..." the new version of the tune starts, but then turns with the lyrics. "Wait, someone just took my stuff, I need to call the cops. Oh, no, I just said cops are pigs. Who’s gonna help me get my stuff?”
“Why did I listen to Colin Kaepernick, He’s not even any good?" singers lament in the song sung to the tune of the Star-Spangled Banner.
While celebrities protest and have right to do so, it shouldn't be surprising when other celebrities protest them right back.
