Kaepernick Claims America Was Never Great

Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player who has drawn a lot of attention by protesting the national anthem, is not very enthusiastic about the upcoming election. According to the San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback, 'lesser of two evils' is exactly the choice with which Americans are presented.

Kaepernick said he caught some of the first presidential debate that aired on Monday night and felt it was 'embarrassing to watch.'

"Both are proven liars, and it almost seems like they're trying to debate who's less racist," said Kaepernick the day after the debate. "At this point -- talking to one of my friends -- you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it's still evil."

In particular, Kaepernick doesn't agree with Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America great again."

"Well, America has never been great for people of color. That's something that needs to be addressed. Let's make America great for the first time," said Kaepernick.

Trump has mentioned the NFL star's protest in past interviews. "I think it’s a terrible thing," Trump has said in an interview on KIRO radio in Seattle. "And, you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try, it won’t happen.”

Kaepernick calls Trump's remarks 'ignorant.'
