Jared Fogle's Ex-Wife Sues Subway

The hits keep on coming for disgraced Subway pitchman Jared Fogle. New reports have been making the rounds that the feds have seized a healthy amount of cash from him, while his ex-wife has filed suit against the chain he helped make famous for hiding his transgressions. As USA Today shares, Subway is trying to get the suit dismissed, but the ex-wife makes a compelling case.

On the cash seizure front, Fogle had to pony up some serious cash in a bid to avoid having even more assets seized by the feds.

“Jared Fogle has officially been ordered to ante up $50,000 ... money that he's forking over to avoid officials seizing vehicles that he used to commit the crime of traveling to engage in sex with a minor,” TMZ reports. “Fogle, who is serving 15 years in prison, was sentenced in November 2015 and the $50k forfeiture was part of the agreement. Now the feds have issued a formal order seizing the money.”

As for the lawsuit, Kathleen “Katie” McLaughlin claims that Subway knew about alleged misconduct between Fogle and undeerage girls as early as 2004. She married Fogle in 2010, and their home was raided in 2015 when Fogle’s disturbing habits were exposed to the world. Subway is attempting to have the case dismissed.

“In a brief filed in opposition to the dismissal, attorneys for McLaughlin claim Subway and its associates 'after hearing allegations of Jared Fogle’s sexual interest in children and alleged sexual acts with children, chose not to investigate,'” USA Today reports.

McLaughlin claims that she had no idea that Fogle engaged in such illegal activities until the couple’s home was raided. She also makes it quite clear that she never would’ve married him if there was even a hint of such behavior from his past.

“McLaughlin’s lawsuit alleges Subway executives were notified at least three times that the former pitchman had a sexual interest in children and had exploited them, but failed to act, and instead pushed forward with an advertising campaign that would bring the company even more profits,” USA Today adds. "'Subway's ambition for sales and growth,' the suit alleges, came at the expense of his wife and children.”

Three specific instances have been outlined in the case that points to Subway being aware of Fogle’s actions. He allegedly approached a minor for sexual purposes at a Subway event in 2004, and he shared some repulsive thoughts about activities he engaged in with children with a franchisee in 2008. In 2011, a journalist approached the company to inform it that Fogle had told her he is interested in disgusting relationships with minors. In all three instances, it’s alleged that the company did little more than have public relations people have a chat with Fogle.
