Iowa State University Police Disappointed Students Would Rather Photograph Accident Than Report It

Police officers were outraged when they arrived at Iowa State University to find a SUV on top of parked cars. They noticed a group of students taking pictures with their cell phones, but not bothering to call authorities. They had to remind them, "If you see something, say something."

The incident took place on Wednesday when the driver of the SUV accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. The result was an accident with cars parked outside the Armory. Thankfully, no one was injured in the icy conditions. The Iowa State University Police Department wrote:

"This morning a driver lost control and landed their vehicle on top of multiple parked cars. Fortunately nobody was hurt. This is a harsh reminder of two things:

1. Careless driving affects more than just you and your car. Everyone is at risk when drivers aren't cautious.

2. If you see something, say something! We encourage people to call us when they observe something disruptive or concerning. Unfortunately, nobody called this in to our department.

When officers arrived, there were multiple people standing around the scene taking pictures."

Aaron Delashmutt, interim assistant vice president and chief of ISU police, said, "[We’d] rather get 20 calls about the same incident than none."
