Investor Screams For Crews To Stop Demolition After Finding This Hidden In A Texas Home

A man in Texas bought a house that changed his life overnight. Curtis Grant purchased what he thought was an ordinary home in the suburbs. When he started to work on his new house, he found something shocking in the frame.

Grant’s original plan for the new home was to take the land and start all over with a new development project. When he began tearing down the walls of the home to get started on something brand new, he found something which is by Texas standards historical and almost ancient. Peeking out from the walls of the house were strange legs he first couldn’t identify.

After an investigation, he found out the wooden legs were actually part of the original house, which wasn’t a house at all but a wooden cabin. The cabin was as old as Texas itself and a part of American history. It was built by Texas pioneer William Gibson during the time of the Civil War. Gibson and his family answered a call for settlers to go to Texas after the Texas Revolution. Sixteen families made the trip in covered wagons.

When news broke out, the cabin was quickly given the moniker “Long Prairie Homestead” and locals began flocking to the site in droves to take a peek. After the sudden popularity, Grant found himself unable to continue his original project. Long Prairie Cabin won a $15,000 grant from the Texas Preservation Trust Fund.

The site of the cabin is now worth nearly a million dollars but Grant has not sold it yet. He plans to restore it and continue his new development project of houses around it. “This is great news for our Flower Mound community. We who have been closely monitoring preservation efforts once the log cabin was unearthed from within a home,” said Senator Nelson. “The financial support the TPTF grant provides will be the first step of many to save the history of this important piece of our heritage for generations to come.”
