If You Want To Unlock This Book, You Have To Solve Each Puzzle First

This is one of the coolest puzzles we’ve ever seen since the Rubix cube. Innovation like this is what can help entertain kids instead of having them stare at a computer or cell phone screen all day.

What you see here is the Codex Silenda. It looks like a book...and it is. Sort of. But you can’t open it unless you’re smart enough. You literally have to unlock it first.

According to Bored Panda, the Codex Silenda is a laser-cut, hand-crafted, five-page wooden book. It was designed by Brady Whitney who seeking funding through its Kickstarter campaign to mass produce his creation.

Each page has a different puzzle that the “reader” must solve by unlocking the corresponding bolts in order to get to the next page. In addition to being a cool puzzle, as the reader moves through each puzzle a story begins to emerge about an apprentice of Leonardo Da Vinci’s workshop who encounters the same Codex.

The Codex in the story is actually a trap set by Da Vinci himself to protect his work and apprehend any spies or snooping apprentices. The only way the apprentice can escape is if he solves the puzzle before Da Vinci returns.

You can call dibs on a Codex Silenda by checking out its Kickstarter page.
