Home Depot Employee Fired Over This Tattoo (Photos)

A man got an unusual tattoo in an unusual place. Even though his tattoo isn't readily visible, he was fired after showing it to a coworker. He claims his employer took it out of context.

Kirk Soccorso of Patchogue, New York worked as a tool demonstrator at Home Depot. Everything seemed to be going well until a private conversation in which he showed his coworker his tattoo. When Soccorso pulls down his lower lip, it reveals the letters: ISIS.

Home Depot and the Florida marketing firm that employed the contractor promptly gave Soccorso his walking papers. The man says he's not a terrorist, however. It was all just a coincidence.

A few years ago, Soccorso was dating a woman and they agreed to get tattoos of each other's names. Her name happened to be 'Isis' after the Egyptian mother nature-like goddess. Soccorso had no idea that years later the name would be associated with Islamic terrorists.

"I honestly didn't know what the acronym meant until just recently,” said Soccorso. He's considering a lawsuit against his former employer.

"It's a personnel matter and the decision wasn't just based on the tattoo," said a spokesperson for Home Depot.
