HIV+ Who Man Raped Six-Year-Old Boy Gets 17-40 Year Sentence

An HIV-positive Pennsylvania man who was found guilty of raping a six-year-old boy has been sentenced to 17 to 40 years in prison this week.

The 62-year-old man, Ira Task, pled guilty to the charges in March , after admitting he raped the boy without a condom knowing he was HIV positive.

Cumberland County District Attorney Dave Freed, said that Task had committed a “calculated” act of “evil.”

Police officers testified that Task had arranged a meeting with the child through 19-year-old North Middleton Township resident William Byers-Augusta early last year. The trial presented evidence to the fact that Task took the boy to his home on April 20th, drugged him and raped him several times.

“There are still cases that hit even the most seasoned prosecutor or police officer directly in the core of our being,” the DA noted. “Cases of behavior so calculated, depraved and debilitating to the victim that it makes plain that there are those in our society who will callously inflict evil on our most vulnerable, our children, to serve their own degenerate desires.”

Evidence at the trial included data, videos, and still photos stored on Task’s computers and personal electronic devices. The rape of the unnamed six-year-old was found among that evidence.
