Hillary Clinton Still Has A Shot At Becoming President Even Though She Lost The Election

Donald Trump’s victory on Tuesday night is quite simply the most stunning result in our nation’s history of presidential politics, and there’s plenty of people that spent a good portion of the day after allowing it to sink in. On the other hand, there’s been a boatload of Hillary Clinton supporters that are finding it simply too much to bear.

As the New York Post reports, there’s actually an extremely remote possibility that they can hang their hopes on. Yes, Hillary Clinton could still assume the position of commander-in-chief - but it would take a revolt from the electoral college to make it happen.

There’s nothing preventing each state’s chosen electors from casting their ballots however they please. In theory, the electors could refuse to vote for Donald Trump and throw their support behind Clinton, which would result in her having the requisite number of electoral votes to assume the presidency.

Electors that behave in this manner would be known as ‘faithless electors,’ but it would still take a bunch of them to turn those frowns upside down for Clinton supporters. This remote possibility is not something that will likely soothe their angst anytime soon, but threats to leave the country, hateful posts on social media and random protests don’t seem to be doing the trick for them either.
